DigiD
Register for a DIGID after you receive your BSN from the municipality. This is a useful tool to keep in check with integrated appointments, but you’ll also need it for government mails and quests; like tax in general or surcharges.
NS / RET / 9292
For the travellers among us, who don’t travel by bike or car, but by public transport. These apps are very useful to keep check on departure and arrival times, and which platform you need to be. NS covers the trains, RET covers the metro, tram and the train around the Randstad, and 9292 covers all of the public transportation throughout The Netherlands.
Swapfiets
For the bikers among us, who don’t want to buy a bike. Swapfiets gives you the opportunity to rent a bike for a monthly allowance. They also offer services to fix your bike when it malfunctions or ‘swap’ the bike when you are in need of a different one.
Flitsmeister
For our fast & furious drivers. Flitsmeister is a useful app which detects traffic and standby/mobile cameras ahead. They will notify you whenever you are near such a camera or traffic. Keep in mind that Flitsmeister is not 100% accurate and that you’ll receive a speeding ticket if you cross one and do not hold yourself to the speed limit.
ThuisBezorgd/Uber Eats
Hungry, but not in the mood to leave the house or the energy to cook? Let a restaurant cook for you and bring it to your front door! Make sure to enable your GPS signal or fill in your postal code to see your local restaurants. Place the order online, pay directly (or with the driver) and eat.
Marktplaats
If money is tight and you want to buy someone secondhand, or you want to sell something for some extra cash; Marktplaats can be your best friend! It gives you the opportunity to buy and sell stuff all around the country. Be aware of frauds, and only sell when you’re feeling good about it.
